The United States has long been known as a nation of high earners, but the best pay in America has been elusive.
Now, according to a survey released Tuesday by The Associated Press, the U.S. is once again the best place in the world to earn a top-earning salary.
The survey found that in 2016, the median pay in the U,S.
That compares to $85,400 for Canada and $85.20 for Mexico.
While the U is the most expensive country to earn in the survey, the average annual salary in the nation was $68,000 in 2016.
The AP found that median salaries are higher for certain fields of study.
In a field called management, the report said, the top earners in 2016 earned nearly $150,000, compared to $115,000 for non-management professionals.
In another field, accounting, the survey said that the median salary was $90,000.
But for many professions, the numbers are even more dismal.
In 2016, median pay for physicians was just $69,000 while the median for nursing assistants was just over $51,000 and the median in social workers was just under $39,000 per year.
