Washington’s pass rush made it difficult for the Rams to run the football, but the defense held them to just 12 yards on six plays, including two sacks and a quarterback hurry.
The pass rush has been an issue for the Redskins in recent weeks, but this time it was the Rams who forced the issue.
The Redskins’ pass rush was outstanding, allowing just one sack and one quarterback hurry all game.
The Rams’ pass defense also played well, allowing no sacks or QB hurries.
The 49ers were also able to limit the passing game.
Quarterback Matt Barkley had a passer rating of just over 40 percent in the second quarter, which was good for the worst of any quarterback in the NFL.
He completed just 12 of 29 passes for 121 yards.
In his first game since his concussion in October, quarterback Jared Goff completed 11 of 19 passes for 115 yards and one touchdown.
He did however have one incompletion that was called back for a flag.
Goff was sacked five times.
The Rams are still in the hunt for a playoff spot.
The Redskins also remain in the playoff hunt.
The NFL season officially begins on Sunday.
